Zombies! All through your office, zombies wander looking for information.

BQE has worked long hours to end the zombie apocalypse. Formulas tried and abandoned. More tried, refined and adopted. Testing, testing and more testing.

And we’ve done it . . . it’s. . .it’s . . .ALIVE!

  1. I still respectfully disagree. I can handle retainers or overpayments just fine in QBks, but they are still the death of us in BQ. We have so much trouble with them that that alone may be the end of BQ for us.

    • Shirley,

I am not sure what problems you are having, but you not be — within BillQuick or with integration with QuickBooks.

If the issues persist, continue to contact BQE Support and ask them to escalate you to a manager.

  2. Is BQ2012 going to give us the option to not use retainers? And if so, how soon? Retainer and keeping them straight with QBks is going to be the death of us.

    • I’m not sure what your comment refers to, but I’ll give it shot.

Retainers are monies on accounts. It may be deposit or pre-payment for work, or an over-payment (credit balance) that you want to track.

Keeping retainers straight is easy in BillQuick using the Retainer History screen (Pro and Enterprise), on the Account screens for Client and Projects (all Editions), or with various reports (all Editions).

When you sync BillQuick with QuickBooks, the retainer hits Cash and Unearned Revenue. When you apply a retainer to a bill or invoice, it moves unearned to earned.

    • Retainer is not an on/off feature. If you need them, use them. If not, then it doesn’t get in the way.

In the BillQuick Pro and Enterprise Editions, the Retainer History screen brings together all the retainer information, including payments, invoices applied to, balances and so on.

When you record a retainer as a Payment in BillQuick (our recommendation), it transfers to QuickBooks properly.

I agree . . . retainers in QuickBooks can be difficult to manage. That is why we encourage entering the payment in BillQuick and using the Retainer History screen to manage them.

To see more blog posts about retainers, choose Retainers from the Category dropdown list on the right. Lots of good info.
