iPhone Apps – Traveler’s Aid

Posted by & filed under Industry Insights, Tips and Tricks.

Fly often? Then it’s important to know:

  • Whether your flight is running on time (that’s a Vegas Bet)
  • Where your gate is (and how far you are from it)
  • Where ground transportation is
  • Where you can get a meal at the airport (other than fast food)
  • Where the airline lounge is (Ah, to be a member. . .)
  • Where you are staying (winging it can be expensive)
  • Your car reservation (Only a Corolla’s left, and yeah, the Yugo)
  • The weather at your destination (Singing in the rain, just singing in the rain)

You could walk through airports with a handful of printed pages. Or maybe buy a nice leather traveler’s wallet and put all the information neatly in it.

Or you can use your iPhone for more than music, games, and oh yeah, a phone. How? Just buy an app!

There are plenty of good ones. Of course, none of them give you everything you may want (at least, not yet). Now you need 2, 3 or more apps. Some of the top-rated iPhone apps for travelers include:

  • iFly’s Airport & Flight Guide
  • Tripcase
  • Trip Tracker
  • FlightTrack (where, oh where, is that plane)
  • Airport Status (foggy, rainy)
  • Airline Codes (for booking the next ticket)
  • MileBlaster (gonna get me my miles!)

If you can’t yet justify spending $20 or so for the best apps, here a few more reasons:

  1. So you don’t have to “not stare” at the other passengers in the inter-terminal train car or on the moving sidewalk.
  2. So you don’t stress out and get tagged for a full body search.
  3. So you can save your sweat for those odd sounds a plane sometimes makes.

Happy Flying!
