How To Set Rates by Job Classification

Job Classification can mean different things in different companies. Some view it as job classifications set out in union contracts. In other companies, job classification may refer to a job title or combination of skills. In short, everyone in a job classification possess similar characteristics.

In BillQuick, you can set up special bill and cost rates for employees with the same classification using Groups and the Service Fee Schedule. It is a quick process:

1. On the Employee screen, create an Employee Group for the job classification, say Administrative, Design, Junior Consultants, etc.

2. Create or open a Service Fee Schedule.

3. Select this Employee Group from the drop-down list. You can also group activity codes and select it on the fee schedule.

4. Select an activity code or activity group.

5. Enter the special bill rate. (You can also enter a special cost if you wish.)

6. Save your schedule.

When a member of the Job Classification Group records their hours for the activity, BillQuick automatically applies the special rate to calculate the amount to bill the client for the project work.
