Before you know how to set up a billing schedule in BQE Core, you’ll probably want to know when or why you would want to do this. BQE has automatic billing, so you wouldn’t need to use billing schedules for a fixed monthly fee contract. However, when you have a fixed annual contract and you want to bill it out in varying percentages and at certain times, billing schedules are very helpful.
Let’s say I’ve agreed to handle a clean up job on Mike Milan’s accounting. We’ve agreed to a total contract amount of $10,000. Let’s also say that I want to bill Mike based on 50% up front, then 25%, and 25 % each month thereafter.
This is a perfect use case for billing schedules in BQE Core.
To set up a billing schedule in BQE Core, you navigate to an engagement. From the engagement, if you don’t see the option across the top right, click the drop down, where it says, “General.” That drop down menu is contextual, based on the size of your screen.
Choose “Billing Schedule.”
