At BQE, we’re not all business 24/7. Like everyone else, we need to let off some steam occasionally, pull back from our monitors and have a little fun.

Each year the BQE employees in the Torrance office hold a big event to gather and relax. This year’s event was made more special as we were joined by our team members from Chicago.

Unlike the typical company picnic which we had last year, this year we went for a bit more refined outing on a dinner cruise.

On a slightly chilly Saturday evening in July, we set sail on a  90 ft sailing ship for a three-hour cruise. To everyone who read that without hearing the Gilligan’s Island theme, well done.

We departed from the Ports O’ Call in San Pedro to enjoy the calm water and spectacular evening view of the Long Beach skyline. Our course took us past signature landmarks of the area such as the Queen Mary, USS Iowa and Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific.

In addition to the sights, cocktails, food and good conversation, our crew enjoyed some karaoke (who knew Steve Burns’ son could rap?) and some excellent entertainment by a comic/magician who, in one bit, stripped down to a Superman costume that would have made Christopher Reeves proud.

A good time was had by all, and we can’t wait to find out what we’re going to do on our next adventure.
